Social & Industrial Foodservice Institute

Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute was created in 2004, starting since 2006 exists as an independent non-profit organization. The Institute develops state-of-the-art technologies of organizing and managing non-commercial foodservice systems as integral elements of the state infrastructure.

We operate in the following areas: school nutrition, industry food service, hospital food service, transport food service, military food service, prison food service, and food service at mass events.

Our goals include research and analysis of social nutrition problems, formulating strategies to improve social nutrition system and practical implementation in cooperation with government bodies. Institute's activities group around following directions:

• formulating of state policy to improve social nutrition system;
• providing high-quality consultation and expertise;
• development and promotion of comprehensive school nutrition programs.

We care about placing of social nutrition issues at the top of national agenda. State Duma's round table "Healthy Nutrition at School" in 2006, April, became a turning point in raising public awareness of school feeding. Institute played an outstanding role in promoting the dialogue and initiating further development of school feeding programs. Round table proposals resulted in emergence of "School Healthy Nutrition" federal project and Experts Council for its implementation with involvement of our specialists.

Representatives of Institute participate in activities in a number of interagency groups such as Ministry of Education and Science Children Health Protection Working Group, Support of Experimental Projects on Students Nutrition Working Group of Presidential Council of National Projects etc.

In 2006-2009 Institute conducted comprehensive research project that covered analysis of school nutrition in more than 15 regions of Russian Federation and included elaboration of new models of school feeding, projects of new plants equipment and logistics, technological passports for food units. These studies provided regional and municipal authorities with analytical foundation for reforming school feeding system.

Our assistance in formulating of state social nutrition policy included fundamental research carried out in 2009 (May- November) on Programs to improve school nutrition in Russian Federation for Administration of Presidential Affairs. Currently Institute works out Russian Federation Social Nutrition Framework for Ministry of Agriculture.

Beyond the school feeding, Institute cooperates with Russian Railways (RZD) in the area of new nutrition technologies introduction for passengers in long-distance trains. Our specialists work in Armed Forces Nutrition Advisory Council. Institute publishes the only academic and research magazine that gives information on social nutrition in Russia.

We are open to any international cooperation. Our outside activities include partnership with related international fora, specialized conferences, seminars, exhibitions.
